Background
Hyperfine has launched its next-generation Swoop system across Europe, bringing an AI-powered portable MRI system for brain imaging built on the latest version of its Optive AI software.
The company called the launch a major step in expanding its portable MRI technology worldwide, one that supports its international growth plans while widening access to high-quality brain imaging at the point of care.
The next-generation Swoop system, known as Model 2, is now on sale in an initial group of European markets after clearing both CE mark and UKCA approval.
Steve Williams of King’s College London described the jump in image quality on the new Swoop system as transformative. He said he didn’t expect low-field MRI to reach this level of diagnostic-quality output.
Williams pointed out that limited neuroimaging access has held back diagnosis and treatment for patients around the world for years, and said the Swoop system could help close that gap by putting MRI within reach even in remote areas.
Hyperfine also confirmed its next-generation Swoop system now sits on the UniHA procurement listing, calling it a key step toward wider use across hospitals in France’s public healthcare system. The system first appeared on that listing back in October 2025.
Eric Willis, Hyperfine’s vice president of international, said bringing the company’s most advanced portable MRI technology to clinicians across Europe and the UK marks a major point in its 2026 commercialisation plans.
He said the new system brings real gains in image quality, workflow and clinical use, adding that the same upgrades have already sped up adoption of the Swoop system in the US.
Willis said Hyperfine intends to roll out the Model 2 Swoop system through its distribution partners across every European market where the company operates by year’s end.
