Background:
Eleven health technology companies from the Nordic region have been selected to introduce their healthcare solutions to the UK through the Propel International Boot Camp. The programme is run by Health Innovation Yorkshire & Humber and focuses on supporting the introduction of international healthcare products and services into the NHS.
The companies are bringing healthcare solutions to support NHS needs, including a pregnancy mental health app, a digital tablet to help older people stay active and connected, and wound care products that improve comfort and reduce skin issues.
The Propel International Boot Camp is designed to attract promising healthtech businesses from across the world. Yorkshire and Humber is the first UK region to assess how these solutions could be used in clinical and operational settings. Backed by international partners, the programme supports small and medium-sized enterprises by helping them understand how the UK healthcare system works and by speeding up their journey into the market.
The companies taking part in the programme are YetiCare, EchoVoice, Omaia, Abomics, Upptimely, ExAC, Crisis Linguistics (Som Sagt AS), Nil Medical, Global Health Technology, MoniDose Oy, and Dossier. Over five days, participants take part in sessions covering key areas such as the NHS structure, legal and regulatory requirements, funding options, networking, and business growth.
Neville Young, Director of Enterprise and Innovation at Health Innovation Yorkshire & Humber, said the programme helps strengthen healthcare services while also contributing to the region’s economic growth. He highlighted that the initiative helps international companies enter the UK market while encouraging investment, innovation, and job creation.
Emma Granlund, Interim CEO of YetiCare Oy and a member of the current cohort, said the programme provides valuable insight into how the NHS operates. She added that it helps companies build strong partnerships and plan their expansion into the UK market.
Through initiatives like Propel, Health Innovation Yorkshire & Humber continues to support the adoption of practical healthcare solutions while strengthening the region’s role as a key hub for international health innovation.
