Background :
To build up a more effective health partnership between Uzbekistan and France, both sides have decided to implement several projects aimed at enhancing medical care, training specialists and implementing new technologies for health care provision in Uzbekistan.
While meeting in Tashkent, Minister of Health of Uzbekistan, Eldor Adilov and Ambassador of France, Walid Fouque, discussed ways of increasing cooperation between the two nations. In particular, one of the projects concerns opening the branch of Gustave Roussy Cancer Centre in Uzbekistan, which will contribute to better diagnostics and treatment of cancers in Uzbekistan.
Another important topic was related to training programs that would allow Uzbek doctors to receive specialised training in top hospitals of France. Both sides explored cooperation on developing Uzbekistan’s national health insurance system and improving access to essential medicines through better financing and supply.
Another major proposal involves setting up modern trauma care centres in the Tashkent region’s resort areas of Amirsoy, Aktash, Khumson, and Chimgan. French companies are expected to support these projects. The two countries also discussed pilot programmes to equip medical institutions across Uzbekistan with advanced diagnostic technologies.
For the strengthening of cooperation in the future, it was decided that there would be an increased engagement of Uzbekistan with leading healthcare establishments of France, such as the Gustave Roussy Cancer Centre and the Rothschild Foundation. In addition, this partnership would facilitate exchange of knowledge and skills among universities, hospitals and medical workers.
The two countries agreed to proceed with the proposed plans, coordinate joint projects and work together to upgrade the healthcare system in Uzbekistan.
